Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ is the central figure in Christianity and is viewed by Christians all over the world as a Messiah and the Son of God. According to Christian belief, Jesus was the Son of God and therefore God himself and he died on the cross to pay the penalty of the sins of humankind. He died for the salvation of humankind.

Birth of Jesus

Jesus was born a Jew in Bethlehem in the city of David and his mother Mary was married to Joseph the carpenter of Nazareth. Gabriel the angel told Mary a virgin that Jesus would be born to her by the power of the Lord. Jesus was born in a stable and laid in a manger as Joseph and Mary were traveling at that time and there was no other place. On the birth of Jesus, an angel appeared in front of the shepherds who were tending to their flock and announced that a Saviour had been born in the city of David.

The Miracles of Jesus Christ

Many miracles of Jesus Christ are given in the Bible which includes curing leprosy, healing the blind people and even curing a man who was possessed by demons. Jesus own resurrection is well known but the gospel also lists three incidents where Lord Jesus brought back to life dead people.
Control over Nature
The Gospel which is a writing that describes the life of Jesus also lists occasions where Jesus exercised his power and control over nature.
Walking on Water
A few of Jesus disciples went on a boat and were half way across the lake when they saw someone who was walking on the lake coming towards them. They were scared, fearing that it was a ghost but soon they saw that it was Jesus Christ himself and they calmed down.
Calming the storm
Jesus and some of his disciples were crossing the river on a boat when there was huge storm causing the waves to enter the boat and could have resulted in them being drowned. When Jesus saw this, he commanded the wind and waves to stop. Miraculously it stopped leaving the disciples in shock and amazement. The disciples were shocked and wondered how great this man is who can even control the wind and water and the fury of nature.

Some Jesus Christ quotes

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
"For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
"Yes I am with you always, until the very end of time"

Crucifixion of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was nailed to a cross-shaped piece of wood which is known as crucifixion. Jesus was betrayed by his disciple Judas and was crucified because he was accused of blasphemy. Only the most hardened criminals were crucified and Jesus was crucified between two robbers. Jesus was beaten with a whip which had pieces of iron at each end causing deep cuts and wounds. A crown of thorns was placed on his head, he was struck on the head with a staff, spit on and stripped naked. Crucification is the worst way to die. While he was being crucified the words which Jesus said to God were "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do".

Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Resurrection is rising back from the dead or coming back to life. After his crucifixion, Jesus once again came back to life. Over the span of forty days he appeared before many people before finally returning to heaven. The third day after the crucifixion of Jesus when he came back to life is celebrated as Easter or Easter Sunday. Christianity is a religion based on the life and teachings of Lord Jesus Christ. Christmas is an annual festival celebrated by Christians to commemorate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ.
